Time, She Is A Thief

by Katie Thompson

about

I wrote this song a few weeks after my Grandfather's passing. The writing process was cathartic, allowing me to reflect on memories with my family. It was a challenge, but I hope others can also find solace in this song.

lyrics

Open up a shoebox full of faded photographs
Reminisce about the good times, memories we have
God, I wish I knew how good I had it, but there ain’t no turning back

When the temperature drops and the snows dusting the hill
The urge to head on home is so much stronger than my will
You’d think by now I’d settle in / but a piece of me remains

Time, she is a thief
Leaves her mark on everything
Seasons fly on by
You’re on my mind

Sit and talk about the weather over a cup of tea
The radio plays songs I haven’t heard since I-was 15
There’s comfort knowing something never change….
When others never last

Time, she is a thief
Leaves her mark on everything
Seasons fly on by
You’re on my mind

Time, she is a thief
Leaves her mark on everything
Seasons fly on by
You’re on my mind

Time, so bittersweet
Make of the most of all it brings
Seasons fly on by
You’re on my mind
